My Daddy

Today I am home from work. Last night after midnight we received a phone call. Jeff trying to get me awake to talk to mom is quite the ordeal, especially because I take medication to help me sleep. Well, Mom reported Dad was having a bit of a rapid heart rate and wanted to know what to do. I asked a few "nursey" questions to assess the situation, then spoke to Dad on the phone. I felt strongly that Daddy needed to come to the ER.
So, we (Jeff and I) got dressed and met them there. Dad got in pretty quickly, they did an EKG, lab work, and had him on the monitor, but by this time, he is feeling better. His heart rate has slowed down and his vital signs are stable. Good thing, the ED was busy, and there was only one doc on shift. Dad didn't get seen by the Doc for two hours. I understood, obviously, he was treating a collapsed lung and a car accident patient, but it was my Daddy. Well, doc decided he probably had gone in to an SVT, or rapid rate and may have popped out of it. He was stable and doc said he could go home. So off to home we went at 4 am. Daddy is doing OK today, he is tired, but trying to get in to his doctor's office. They being very strange about getting him in, I think this might throw his rhythm off again.
Anyway, God is good. All the time. He took care of my Daddy again.

Ta Da....

Done.... This is what it looks like tonight. All the furniture moved back in... including the piece on the sofa :~} Just Kidding. He worked hard the last two days. He did all the finish work today, putting up the trim and edges.
I love it. I need to get a real rug, that is just a throw on the floor right now.

When Mom left us yesterday, although she was helping, she returned with something. It was huge and I was wondering what she was up to. Well...

...you see, this placard, was made by Momma Willy. It used to greet us as we entered the cabin at Ten Mile lake. I think that is where I really fell in love with the saying. Yes, I fell in love with the saying. I have it plastered all over my house. Well, this left the cabin and hung over Treva Sue's bed. I saw it there, I noticed it and loved it and her, of course. Well, Mamma Willy gave it to me. What an honor! I cried! I might again. But, how special it is for me to have this, it has followed me for the last few years and tried to be my life's motto. So I cherish my gift, and will strive to live that way, for you Momma Willy, and for my dear Treva.

Clearing out the room

Ok, so today was the day we started tearing up the living room carpet. Jeff bought us some wood flooring, the snap and go kind. It is really cool. I have always wanted wood floor and I really think it will help Jeff with his allergies. So on to wood flooring we go. I will post the finished product, hopefully tomorrow.

Saturday's events....

Bugg in hitting position, smacking the ball!
Bugg had a volleyball tournament today.
It was a JV Invitational.
There were 8 teams, including the Roseburg Frosh.
One team begged out today, Thurston.
So, Bugg's team played against Crater and St. Mary's in their morning bracket. They won their pool and they were first in their grouping.
So they went on to play in the bracket play, they played against a couple of teams and won of course.
Then, (that is Bugg going up for the hit) they ended up playing against the Roseburg Frosh team for the championship. It was fun!
Bugg's team won, of course :~}

This, isPeanut....she is talking with Papa. She is on crutches. The doctor's appointment yesterday was a good one in one way and not so good in another. She got re-XRAY'd, it still isn't broken. But the bruise is so severe, she really needs to stay off of the leg for a while. So, on to crutches she is...again. It is the same set she had when she broke her leg a couple of years ago. Oh well, sometimes it is good to hold on to things :~{

Tomorrow, we are putting wood floors in the living room.
Pictures will be posted :~)

Tuesday Volleyball

So for some reason I got these pictures in reverse order, but oh well.
They are still pictures, none the less.Lynsey got to be introduced with the Varsity team on Tuesday night against Grants Pass, at Grants Pass.

This is Bugg hitting against the JV squad.

Bugg, preparing for the return off the hit by M.

Bugg serving....

and blocking.
She is doing so well. There has been quite the shake up with things this volleyball season. The varsity team has lost two girls to injury, they both being senior girls. So one of Bugg's teammates moved from JV to Varsity. She has been doing a fabulous job on the Varsity team and has been written about because of her skill. Another teammate also had to be moved up, so that has left the JV without two of their hitters. So it has messed with her team a little. They are gelling a little better now, but it is still quite the thing to have so much movement when you are trying to gel as a team.
They are playing tonight for the final league game and unfortunately, I had to be at work so I was not able to be there. Jeff and Nana and Papa are though. I have heard they won and are on their way home.
This Saturday they have their final JV tournament at home. She has then been invited to practice with the varsity team as they prepare for playoffs. So that will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Obviously, I will keep you updated.
Chels, on the other hand is going to return to the doctor tomorrow for follow up. Her leg has continued to swell and be purple and painful. She has not played all week on her leg, so we will get it checked out.
Enough for now.

the twist...part two...

...this was the picture I forgot in the other blog.
That is the coach to Jeff's left.On Sunday,
We had a few surprise visitors to come and watch Chelsey play. We were hoping she would play...
'cause Nana, Papa, Aunt Candi, Tristan and Carley, all came to watch.
Chelsey didn't play the entire first half. It was a physical game, we didn't have any line judges or "AR's" for those of you in the soccer world, and the main referee had some questionable calls.
Chels, couldn't stand it any longer, she had to go in. She started the second half in the goal. She got roughed up and was called for a push in the box. So it was just her and the ball, being kicked by any player they chose, only 10 yards from the goal. My tiny girl, in the goal, less than 24 hours from being in the ER and I am in a slight panic. Just a slight one, it was scoreless, this was do or die. All because she was going for the ball.
the girl kicked...
Chelsey jumped...
the ball flew...
over the goal!
Hallelujah!!
Saved again.
Thankfully that game ended, scoreless. We went to lunch with the family and headed back to Woodburn to shop.

Another soccer weekend...with a twist!

OK, this is Saturday. We drove up to Milwaukee area? for a soccer game. The wind was blowing, the sun was out, but it was chilly. So Lynsey bundled up with Stacey, one of the soccer girls' mom. Stacey had seen Lynsey with her blanket and said, "Lynsey, you sit by me!!" So they cuddled. Unfortunately this pictures was taken before the game started and they were standing in front of the men's room!!
To stay out of the wind, Jeff plopped himself on the backside of the "bathroom" building, until the game was to start. He thought it would be warmer in the sun and next to the building.
So, the game finally starts and I do not want to sit on the grandstands because the wind was continuing to whip and the whole area was shaded, so we plopped our chairs on the edge of the running track in the sun. I have a little guest here, her name is Megan, she is one of the sister's of a girl on the team.
Finally, this is the last picture of Chelsey standing. She played goalie on Saturday, most days actually... and she went for a ball as two opponents were coming in on the goal.

...she was on her backside and she let out a significant squeal and immediately grabbed her left leg. All the girls got down and one knee, I was out of my chair and heading around the end to the other side, I could see her pain on her face and hear her cries. The coach carried her off the field. For those of you who don't know Chelsey, she is a maniac on the soccer field. She will sacrifice life and limb to keep them from scoring a goal on her! A side note as well, she broke her left tibia 2 years ago. She is holding her left leg....

As I get to the bench, the coach already has ice on it and Chelsey is crying. I look at her leg, and it is the size of a small grapefruit and immediately turning purple. Not a good sign if ya ask me. Jeff sat down next to her and she rested her leg and her ice bag on him. She continued to yell for her team, we actually scored a goal. After the game, Chels still didn't move. Her teammates high-five her as they went to high five the parents, the other team came to her and five her as well. There is another nurse mom on the team and a paramedic dad, we all were sure that leg was busted. We asked for directions to the closest urgent care. They sent us to Kaiser Sunnyside off 205, just one exit up from where we were. Chelsey was quickly put in a wheelchair, her vital signs assessed and told to wait for just a few minutes. And, just a few minutes later a nice male nurse came and took her to a room. Her daddy went with...Lyns and I frantically made phone calls to family asking for prayers. About an hour went by and I hadn't heard anything, so I asked to be let back to her room. Jeff says, "she just came back from xray", the doctor was looking at her films and she was sprawled out on the gurney. Her uniform still on. Socks, shin guards and cleat on the right, nothing but ice on the left. The doctor came in the room, made a comment about how the patient and I resemble each other, wonder if we're related....ha ha. The leg is NOT broken. Praise the Lord. Chelsey's first question, "Can I play tomorrow?" The doctor says, "I wouldn't recommend it, but I can tell you won't take no for an answer. It's gonna hurt!"

Chelsey is gone to a girlfriends for a birthday party.
Lynsey is babysitting.
Jeff is watching a movie.
I am catching up on the computer.
Here are a few of our festive halloween pictures. I say we, but it is really Jeff's display at work. He had to take some pictures for his district bosses, so I thought I would share some with you.
Happy birthday little Pumpkin, tomorrow you will be two!!!

Chels played Bend in soccer at 1:30 today. They fought a good fight. The other team got warned for some heavy hitting and one even got yellow carded. But our girls lost 3-1. I forgot the camera. Maybe tomorrow.

playing catch up...

Chelsey at Hillsboro, trying to keep the ball out of the goal. She did a fine job at that...they didn't score any goals in the first game.

In the second game Chels was all over the field. Defender, goalie, middle, forward...she did it all. They won that game 7-1. Same team, same day, different score.
Saturday after the games in Hillsboro, Chels and I drove to my sister's house for Tristan's 13th birthday. We played TWISTER, with his friend Jameson and Carley and finally Candi joined us. Pretty funny!
Here's T blowing out the 13....
here is Carley and I playing Nurtz...it had been a long day.

Another busy weekend

Had a busy weekend, will try to post pictures soon.
Chels played soccer on Saturday. Two games at Hillsboro, so we drove up to Brandie's house. Went to the games, then went to Candi's to celebrate the 13th birthday of my nephew. Drove home with Dad and Mom today.
Weather was crazy, but it was fun.

so...

...Lynsey has been talking to me about this "kid" on the bus. She has some story pretty much every day about this "kid" on the bus. Well, she told me that she danced with "Dustin"..... you know the "kid" on the bus, at Homecoming. Then at her volleyball game last night, (which she won) she said "Dustin" was here mom, for just a little bit. Then she saw him again, and pointed him out to me. OK, well then, now I want to introduce myself to the "kid" from the bus.
So I start to follow Lynsey down the stairs, "no, (giggle) no, MOM you can't follow me".
"Oh, Lyns I just want to say "hi". "
"Mom," (giggle)...."OK, I need to go to the bathroom".
"do you want me to go with you?"
"yea".
Startled look on my face, "you said Yes???"
She begins running down the stairs. I hurry my little chubby self after her and she giggles some more. We get out the door of the gym and she turns and sees "him" walking toward us,
"Mom, this is Dustin".
"Hello, pleased to meet you". I said to him, "she almost wasn't going to introduce me to you".
He says in reply, "I know, what's wrong with me?"
"Nothing," replies Lyns
Then I ask Lyns, "don't you need to use the restroom?"
How funny it is that she seemed to forget what it was she was doing.

Do you remember those days? When just the look from someone you really think is special makes you forget everything that was in your little brain to start with. The nice part for me, and hopefully she won't read this, is was the former "friend" was there and she really didn't pay too much attention to him; her interest was on the "kid" from the bus. :~}
Some days, I wonder if I can handle this, some days, it is quite amusing.
I like being the embarrassing Mom, it's kinda fun. *snicker, snicker*
